Experimental Facilities

The Lab has a variety of experimental facilities, which include:

  • 3-D Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) system
  • Large tilting flume
  • Small tilting flume
  • Arrested front facility
  • Large oscillating water-sediment tunnel
  • Continental MARGINS tank
  • Kinoshita river meandering flume
  • Density current flume
  • WHOI flume
  • Annular flume
  • Cavitation tunnel
  • Model basin
  • Small oscillatory flume
  • Hydrologic process study system
  • Infrastructure

 

In addition, a large part of the lab is dedicated to custom short-term facilities, some of which include:

  • Canoe chutes model
  • Bridge scour model
  • Pumping station model
  • Chicago River model
